The album revolves around the theme of ‘light,’ with Rosalía drawing inspiration from the lives of saints and mystics worldwide (such as Joan of Arc, Teresa of Ávila, and Rosalia of Palermo) to combat the darkness and division in the world through music. The album blends symphonic music, choirs (including the Escolania children’s choir of Montserrat Abbey and the London Symphony Orchestra), and multicultural elements. Rosalía sings in 13 languages (including Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, Catalan, Sicilian, Latin, German, French, and more), reflecting her belief in dispelling darkness with love and light as a ‘celestial missionary.’ The album features collaborations with renowned artists such as Björk, Yves Tumor, Dougie F, Yahritza Y Su Esencia, Estrella Morente, Sílvia Pérez Cruz, and Carminho, spanning genres from classical and pop to electronic and traditional flamenco, making it a spiritually and artistically ambitious work.
