The “Natural Whispers” series has released many albums on the sound of rain in natural environments so far. The sound of rain falling in bamboo forests, forests, lakes, streams, and other places is soft and soothing, which can relax the mind and have a simulated recording feeling.
Relatively speaking, in cities made of reinforced concrete, the sound of rain we hear gives a more digital recording experience. The sound of rain that every urbanite hears firsthand is so familiar. In this album, I recorded the sound of rain around everyone.
Urban night rain is particularly impressive. The images reflected by street lamps and the road surface form a blurred picture of intertwined light and shadow, like a scene in a movie, which is unforgettable.
Artist Profile:
Mick Sawaguchi is the head of Sawaguchi Recording Studio and UNAMAS label; Special Researcher for AES and IPS. He has been the Chief Audio Engineer of NHK since 1971, and his works have won awards such as the Arts Festival Award, Broadcasting Culture Fund Award, IBC Award, and Vatican Hope Award. Mr. Zekou has also made outstanding contributions to organizations such as AES, IPS, ABU, JAS, etc. Since 1985, in order to enhance future HD-TV audio technology, we have been committed to exploring and experimenting with surround sound recording creation, earning the reputation of “surround sound general” overseas. Since 2001, he has given multiple speeches at AES and various international seminars in Southeast Asia, promoting the development of surround sound production technology in Asia. Mr. Zekou retired from NHK in 2005 as the head of the Production Technology Center. Afterwards, in 2007, he founded the high-quality music production label UNAMAS and successively released high-quality music works. After winning the Japanese Professional Music Recording Award in 2013, 2015, and 2016, the label also won the Best Award and Best Studio Award in the same category in 2017, 2018, and 2019. Since 2014, Mr. Zekou has been dedicated to creating immersive surround sound music recordings in 5.1 and 11.1 channels, and his achievements were published in the AES INT CONFERENCE Spatial Reproduction in August 2018.
