American pianist Tedd Joselson surveys Prokofiev’s Piano Sonatas Nos. 6, 7, and 9 in this 2019 Sony Classical remaster. The program ranges from the Sixth’s monumental drama and the Seventh’s razor-sharp rhythms—culminating in the explosive “Precipitato”—to the Ninth’s introspective lyricism. Joselson balances structural clarity, incisive rhythmic control, and coloristic nuance, revealing both the steel and poetry of these scores with expressive depth. The 24-bit/192kHz remastering brings greater immediacy to his touch and the hall’s atmosphere, making this a valuable revisit of his Prokofiev legacy for collectors and newcomers alike.
