Italian pianist/composer Olivia Belli presents Moonlight Recomposed (XXIM Records, 2020),
a concept album inspired by Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata. Rather than directly reworking the original,
Belli deconstructs its mood and imagery into eight independent minimalist vignettes,
finding a unique balance between contemporary classical and meditative piano music.
Lullaby for a Distant Angel opens with gentle arpeggios like moonlight filtering through a nursery;
the Light Shifting series captures the subtle play of light and shadow;
the Moon Drifting pieces create a dreamlike floating sensation with sustained, resonant notes.
The closing Adagio Sostenuto pays homage to Beethoven’s first movement,
preserving its contemplative essence while reimagining it through Belli’s own voice.
Recorded in Hi-Res 24-bit/44.1kHz, the piano tone is warm and natural,
with every pedal resonance and harmonic detail exquisitely captured for an immersive listening experience.
